Artist's Comments

I love this, I've been working on this for the past few days, on and off, for hours. I was so eager to start practice more watercoloring, though it evolved into something more. This drawing that =Triggerd did seemed to be easy enough to work with, so I did use that.

I finally got real good fur-like and hair-like textures done, or rather, satisfactory as of now. I really am proud of this work, and with his permission, here it is!

Critique on the fur and hair is really appreciated, I tried my best, thank you guys who helped me by watching me develop this, I couldn't have done it without you!

Critiques

:iconmasamuneguy:
Vision: You wanted to masterfully recreate the original illustration in a realistic way, and add flowing hair to accentuate the foxes grace and charm. You wanted to practice making fur and hair, to make it look much more realistic than you ever have before. Its a good vision.

Originality: This is based off of an existing illustration. The idea to revise another illustration is very honorable and smart but unfortunately not very original.

Technique: Welcome to realistic coloring and painting! I think In lieu of me telling you exactly what is wrong with this, you should take an extended gander at this [link]
You did a fair job overall for a beginner. Keep up the work, you'll get the hang of it in no time! Just a few tips though, the texture of the hair is all smudged and the edges of the different colors are not blended properly, hair doesn't go in one direction like that and having a brush stroke draw all the individual hair strands for you and then trying to smudge it out when it looks odd is not the right path for a person who is learning to paint hair correctly. Look up hair tutorials on deviantart, or in other places, and you will go very far with your art work.

Impact: The impact of this illustration is higher than it should be, because I know how hard it is to even attempt. I myself cannot paint realistic looking hair yet. This was a good attempt, and perhaps you have learned what you shouldn't try to do next time, and what you should consider learning more about. Whatever you do, do not rely on preset brushes and textures to get the look you want. It is cheap and lowers your artistic integrity.

Vision: I gave it 4.5 starts because I love the way it looks. I can see what you were going for here, and I think you actually nailed it. (The nose could maybe use some work, as a rougher appearance would make the fur and character more realistic)
Originality: Only 3 here cause there really isn't anything original about the pic. it's your standard head shot (BOOM). Not to say it's not bad... just lacks... well ... originality.
Technique: Ahhh, this is the category in which this submission was made for. I gave you 4.5 because I for one think you did an amazing job (especially looking at the old cartoon version and this new 'realistic' version). I LOVE how the back of hair came out... and I think some of what you did there needed to be applied to the front as well. I again, think the nose should appear rougher (or even a bit wet) to make it really complete and perfect. All in all (especially if this is your first time trying such thing out) You did a terrific job on it. *pets fur that has texture now*
Impact: Well as far as it's impact on me, I'd say it has a pretty big one. Shows me you are very capable of doing such things, and with such a great turn out on the first try, it can only mean greater things to come in the future.

(Please remember that I'm not a good artist and this critque should probably be taking with a grain of salt) ;p

wow, that looks great! some spots almost look real.
:iconvarus-argo:
Oh, wow. Is this depth-mapped? It's a lot better than the fur and hair I can manage at this point.
:iconham77770011:
wow!I can distinguish it from the "FOXY head"
Marvelous!!:D
:icongaletehdragon:
Wow, from the orignal piece, it does make it look more 3D.

There's a big problem with the shading at the muzzle. Even the big flaw there, everything else is greatly done. :D
:iconletdragon:
Quite impressive. So this was watercoloring originally?

wow the color is awesome!

i like it n.=.n

Like I said in MSN, this is just amazing. The fur is so realistic. If there's any problems, it's more that the background makes it seem like the light source is coming from the wrong direction, based on your shading. Otherwise, this is one of your best pieces EVAR!

88% of all PC owners have access to the Internet. If you are one of the unlucky few that doesn't, then how are you reading this?

Remember kids, updates are BAD for your Wii. They can turn it into a glorified paperweight.
